About The Film

An unexpected movie that doesn't look as good at first sight than it is in reality. This is probably a genre that most people can enjoy, and it's not too scary or too light. The story is fake enough to be a story, but real enough to feel the characters. Joins The Descent as the only two monster movies you need to see in recent film history, and the best Koreans movie of 2006, in the humble opinion of this writer.

Aspiration: Genre Changing

Although this is a monster movie, you see the monster in the first 15 minutes of the movie! (I thought maybe M. Night Shyamalan had learned a little too much from him, haha). But seriously, I was not expecting to see a big fishy looking creature jumping out at me. Even more so, I was expecting it to be frightening, but here we are a little disappointed. What is going on? You'll need to throw your bars to the door (figuratively speaking), and accept a new way of watching a monster movie. This isn't about horror. It's about conflict, emotion, distress, and survival. Everything that was missing from King Kong and the like. I couldn't be more pleased with this film and couldn't recommend it enough to anyone.

Quality: Excellent
