About The Film

I didn't even know that the director of Fight Club and Se7en was working on another classic, nor did I expect it to be as long or able to hold up against these masterpieces. But here comes Zodiac. One of the best crime-mystery films, starring a great cast and shot with Digital Camera (instead of film), according to IMDB.

Aspiration: Realistic Story

For being a crime-themed movie, the story doesn't focus on the killings themselves, but on the people who solve it and their issues. Sure, there are cool and engaging elements in how the serial killer works and acts throughout the story, but even this is not the best part of the film. It really comes in one of the best paced and best told stories in recent film. The pacing is so good that it's epic length is not only forgiven, but welcomed. Being about as long as a Lord of the Rings movie, it certainly feels much more cohesive and much less mentally draining. The dialogue is fast-spoken, but clean and intruiging. The characters are very believable, with maybe the exception of Jake Gyllenhaal at times, who can be a bit over-dramatic or overly enthusiastic in his researching. Overall, there is a lot to praise when it comes to David Fincher's work, including Zodiac.

Quality: Excellent
